Have you taken the appropriate safety precautions?
When sea kayaking in the St. Lawrence Estuary, where cold waters (4°) meet currents, tides and winds, this is a very important issue.
For the duration of your activity, Mer et Monde Écotours will provide you with the following essential safety gear:
- 3 mm wetsuit
- Spare collapsible paddle
- Spray skirt
- Personal flotation device
- Safety whistle
- At least 15 metres of floating rope
- Paddle float
- Pump or bailer
- First aid kit
- Double kayak (more stable and easier to paddle)
Mer et Monde Écotours also provides professional instruction and supervision adapted to your needs:
- We only offer guided activity, each of which includes about an hour of instruction to introduce you to basic sea kayaking techniques and safety measures.
- Each excursion has a minimum of one guide for every 8 kayakers, or one for every 6 in the case of night excursions and excursions lasting more than one day.
- All Mer et Monde Écotours guides have at least 16 hours of wilderness first aid training and CPR training. They are also at least Level II FQCK certified.
- Mer et Monde Écotours is an active member of Aventure Écotourisme Québec (Québec's association of adventure professionals) and must therefore comply with their safety standards.
