« In a few words »
Mer et monde écotours was founded in 1991 with one goal in mind: to share, with as many people as possible, the great opportunity of watching the fauna and the flora of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park. 29 years later, Mer et monde écotours continues pursuit of this commitment to commune with nature.
Today, Mer et monde écotours is specialized in guided sea kayaking excursions and stand up paddle, from l’Anse à la Cave at Les Bergeronnes and from the beach of Tadoussac. We share our passion for kayaking and for the St. Lawrence environment with our visitors for the purpose of a better understanding of the wildlife through close observation. Mer et monde écotours is also a camping host with platform camp sites, rustic shelters and ready to camp sites. This way, every kind of camper can enjoy the natural setting and can experience the opportunity to awake from the sounds of the whales.
« The story of Mer et monde écotours »
Mer et monde écotours pioneered the organization of sea kayaking guided excursions in the region, and quickly built a good reputation.
A few years after its creation, Mer et monde écotours gained access to the site of l'Anse à la Cave and constructed its own launching facility. Simultaneously, campsites were designed with wood platforms to allow for lodging along the rocks. The ready-to-camp sites appeared soon after and were followed by the rustic shelters. In 2017, Mer et monde écotours acquired new shelters and a new reception. Included in this new reception building is a multipurpose room where you can go in the event of bad weather. Just recently, during the 2021 winter break, a major fire affected our main reception building. To date, we are recovering with temporary facilities for our offices, reception and staff common areas. A reconstruction phase is expected in the fall of 2021, and we are currently working to improve your experience at our facility.
« Our values »
Authenticity, respect, sharing. These words capture the philosophy of Mer et monde écotours.
Our guides are the lifeblood of your sea kayaking and stand up paddle experience. Their expertise and facilitation will enable you to discover the St-Lawrence and its wildlife along your journey. So, why sea kayaking and stand up paddle activities ? Because these two means of transportation are ideal to watch the mammals and to respect their natural environment. We offer small group activities with a maximum of 8 people. This allows for our guides not only to interact with all participants, but also to guarantee your security. All our guides have their level II or III certification from the Fédération québécoise du canot et du kayak. In this way, you can safely enjoy your activity and you won't leave any trace of your visit.
